So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 Finale

A signature Mia Michaels group routine! Kyaaaah! I was squealing and fangirling the whole time.  I just can’t get enough of it.

Tonight’s show was fabulous fabulous fabulous! Besides celebrating the best numbers of the season, there were three new pieces from our favorite choreographers. It was the perfect culmination to a truly fantastic season. Mandy Moore’s piece celebrated it wonderfully. I love their costumes here.

And then there’s Lex Ishimoto and Travis Wall’s number. Aaaaaaaaaah! It’s so hard to be sane after watching it.

The Top 10 were fantastic. The All-Stars were fantastic. The judges, the production crew, the producers – I only have love for all of them tonight! お疲れ様でした!

Lex Ishimoto’s win is well-deserved. He was an early favorite and he managed to sustain the audience’s interest across the weeks.

What a glorious day today is! It feels as if all is right in the world.

P.S. I hope Koine and Marko will start dating in real life. I hope Logan gets a big break as well.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 Week 7

The show felt heavy this week. The dancers looked really tired. Well, they danced 7 routines each so it’s understandable. Excluding the reruns, the only dance that really stood out to me was Christopher Scott and Travis Wall’s Elements. It was cool. The dancers looked like mythical gods. I thought they got the element assignment right. Kiki’s costume and make-up could have been better though.

NappyTabs opened the show with a fun, groovy number.  The panel work was probably inspired by Kinjaz. They also put in their own spin on the Upeepz’ iconic ‘sit down’ stunt. This goes to show NappyTabs have been around feeding off inspiration and energy from everywhere. Paul, Marko and Allison shined in this routine. Lex and Kiki got the swag going on as well.

I’m happy that the legendary Mia Michaels has returned. She is a master in bringing out the dancers’ raw emotions and her choreography never fails to make the audience feel something. Tonight’s piece showcased the love between Taylor and Lex. It was sweet. There were a lot of smooches but hey they’re in love I don’t blame them. Lex could buff up a bit. The exhaustion probably got to him. I saw him struggling a bit to lift her up.

Anyway, seeing how the Top 4 performed today given the immense pressure, and taking into consideration their journey the whole season, I’m now rooting for Koine to win. Lex might be the most innovative and versatile coming into the show, but I felt more passion from Koine. She delivered more memorable routines.

I’m stoked to find out who wins next week. Not to mention, we get to see Logan and the other Top 10 dancers back again.

The Next Generation Male Leads in Korean Dramas

With many of the staple Korean drama male leads enlisting in the military in the next few years like Lee Jong Suk, Kim Soo Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Lee Min Ho, Ok Taecyeon and Jang Geun Suk, here are the new generation of actors who I think will soon takeover the Hallyu universe. They are young, manly, charming and highly effective actors.

Woo Do-Hwan (우도환) , the second male lead from Save Me

Dong Ha (동하), the villain from Suspicious Partners

Jang Mi-Kwan (장미관), the villain from Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Kang Min Hyuk ( 강민혁), male lead from Hospital Ship

Yeo Jin-goo (여진구), male lead from Reunited Worlds

Jung Hae-in (정해인), second male lead from While You Were Sleeping

Bobby releases Love And Fall Album

Bobby released his first solo album entitled Love and Fall earlier today.

オトコだ! Sangnamja! The way he sings and moves is so manly. Given that he won the third season of Show Me The Money means his rap is legit and that makes him a whole lot cooler in my book.

The whole album is really good! All the songs have a catchy hook. As expected of YG, they’re doing an excellent job producing trendy music. My favorites are Runaway and Firework.

The MV for 사랑해 (I LOVE YOU) is okay too except that I’m not a fan of showing too much skin so it’s not something I want to replay over and over. Well, that’s just me.

Oh, and dope camera work in the MVs by the way.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 Week 6

The Top 4 has been revealed! One of my favorites went home. I think America voted for the people they thought were in danger so he had less votes last week. It’s not the end anyway. There are definitely good things ahead of him. He exited with a bang too. His final piece with Allison was exquisite. It was my favorite of the night.

The hanger piece performed by Marko and Koine was beautifully choreographed and beautifully danced. It once again showcased their great chemistry and brilliant acting.

I’m happy Christopher Scott choreographed the group number. He comes up with cool concepts and is excellent in choreographing large groups of dancers. I love his group routines. It’s always a whole package from the concept, the song choice, the production aspect, and of course the choreography.

With Logan gone, I think either Lex or Koine will win this season. Lex didn’t have memorable routines this week. Koine might have a slight advantage over him.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 Week 5

Technical. All the performances were technically brilliant tonight. The Top 8 slayed. Every single one of them delivered. Oh, and that Brian Friedman group jazz routine to Derniére Danse was just tasteful.

Lex showed us a more groovy and detail-oriented hip-hop in contrast to Mark’s funky and hard-hitting hip-hop style.

Kaylee and Cyrus surprised me with their contemporary routine. This was their best performance so far. Good thing the choreographer was able to incorporate animation into it creatively to let Cyrus be himself all throughout. The dim lights and the dark shade of the costumes also gave the effect of Cyrus being a sort-of shadow; thus, making Kaylee stand out more.

I want these three in the Top 3! My favorites, Lex and Logan, did wonderfully in this as expected. However, seeing Kaylee in this made me realize that she is the only girl who has the spunk and power to match up to these two powerhouses. I can’t imagine this routine with any of the other girl contestants.

On to less important details, Sean Cheeseman’s piece with the other 4 contestants looked complex. It required a lot of technique and partner work. The dancers did a good job but I guess I wanted it to be a little smoother. The music could’ve been better as well.

Anyway, based on tonight’s performances alone, Koine, Taylor and Kiki are in my bottom 3 but taking into account the whole season, Kaylee might take the spot of either Koine or Taylor. Personally, I feel that Koine is stronger and more versatile than Taylor. Her solos were consistently better. On the other hand, Taylor has a good vessel. She has beautiful long legs and torso. I think who moves on between them will boil down to the choreography they’ll get next week. Either way, Lex and Logan are way up there.
