Currently Watching

I dropped several series mid-way because I lost interest including Rich ManWhat’s Wrong With Secretary KimBokutachi ga Yarimashita, and Yutori desu ga Nani ka. So… what did I find worth watching?

Parting Left / Goodbye to Goodbye (이별이 떠났다)

In brief, this is about how women are screwed up by the men in their lives and how they rise above the mess through finding comfort in each other and standing on their own two feet. I like the characterization and dialogues in this. The women were portrayed realistically too in that I can’t entirely hate or love any of the characters. Everyone was flawed and you see them struggling in their own way. It’s a good slice of life that doesn’t have that grime indie films have. I like that it isn’t crass.

Come and Hug Me (이리와 안아줘)

It reminds me of my ultimate favorite K-drama, I Can Hear Your Voice. The son of a serial murderer falls in love with the daughter of one his father’s victims. The acting isn’t all that but the plot and production make up for it. This could’ve been better if they were able to cast more seasoned leads but anyway, this is still definitely going to be in my list of Top Dramas of 2018.

Sweet Revenge / Revenge Note (복수노트)

This is a really watered down Death Note-ish story that focuses more on the everyday life of Ho Goo Hee, the pushover. She subscribes to an app (with a lot of spam notifications) that enables her to type in the name of the person she wants to get revenge on. The revenge antics are childish and funny. They got some eye candies too in Park Solomon and Astro’s Cha Eunwoo as part of the cast. Overall, it’s really just an adorable web series for teens.

Hana Nochi Hare: HanaDan Next Season (花のち晴れ〜花男 Next Season)

This is the next installment of the Boys Over Flowers series. C5 has replaced F4. The heroine starts off engaged to the Rui-like character, Hase Tenma-kun, but will probably get snatched up by the Domyouji-like character, Kaguragi Haruto. Cliche storyline and feels but I don’t care. I like Oto and Tenma-kun’s interactions so I watch this.
